Pricing
Cherish44 provides custom designed service without compromises.
With this principle in mind, we do not provide predetermined restoration packages for a unit without having it inspected. After all, your unit may or may not need all elements of such a package or such a package at all.
On the other hand to prepare a realistic estimate is a serious task.
To prepare a realistic estimate, we need know:
- What the customer’s expectations exactly are.
- All activities which need to be carried out on the unit to be serviced.
- All engineering/labor required to carry out necessary service activities.
- All necessary parts if any, to carry out the planned service.
Without knowing these details, it is not realistic to prepare a successful estimate. For this reason, we ask our customers to send or bring in their units for an evaluation. There is a minor fee for this initial inspection, however this inspection enables us to give you a realistic estimate with a service cost bracket.
If it is not possible to send your unit or bring it in, please examine your unit carefully, take notes as necessary, determine your expectations, and give us a call for a review. We will try our best to give you a price idea for service.
Please bear in mind that the complete service cost of a unit in our field can be calculated accurately only after the unit passes our final evaluation and all applicable final tests.
Waitlist Payments
As indicated on our homepage, Cherish44 has a backlog resulting in a waitlist due to strong demand for our services. As a result of the aforementioned backlog new customers are required to submit a minor non-refundable payment to make a reservation on our waitlist at this time. While this payment is actually a downpayment or a deposit towards the service cost of a unit and usually covers the cost of the initial inspection, it is not refundable if the new customer does not wish to proceed with our services for any reason later on. It is also evident that customers who may be denied service for violating our company policies, procedures, and principles cannot qualify themselves for a refund in doing so.
Important Note About Communication
Our primary communication tool is e-mail. Therefore please:
- Adjust your spam filter/folder settings to pass our messages.
- Do not use multiple e-mail accounts and use one e-mail account
only to communicate with Cherish44.
- Inform us immediately if your e-mail address, phone number,
or residential address changes.
Shipping to Cherish44
Customer Unit Shipping Form (CUSF)
Please contact us when you are ready to pack. We can e-mail you our CUSF for you to fill out and to add to the contents of the package.
Note About The Entirety of The Units to Be Shipped/Brought in
All units intended to be shipped/brought in to Cherish44 for whatever reason must be shipped/brought in, in their entirety unless special arrangements are made. Cherish44 reserves the right not to accept and not to service units without faces, knobs, tube shields, cabinets, proper serial number, etc. The only exceptions to this requirement are external accessorial wooden cabinets of McIntosh and Marantz units. Such units shall not be shipped/brought in, in their external accessorial wooden cabinets, but must be shipped/brought in, in their entirety otherwise.
Note About Customer Addresses and Connections
All Cherish44 customers
- Must submit their actual residential addresses and connections including a valid phone number and e-mail address.
- Must ship from their actual residential addresses unless special arrangements are made.
Cherish44 does not recognize PO Boxes, carrier/shipping store locations, etc. as valid residential addresses. Cherish44
- Reserves the right not to serve customers
- Will not assume responsibility for shipments
who/which violate these requirements.
Important Note About Packaging
Good packaging does not make a unit sound louder or better. However, poor packaging can be the cause of irreversible damage to your unit. If you are not experienced in packaging vintage audio units but wish to ship your unit to Cherish44, please feel free to contact us. We would be glad to help you to pack your unit right.
Some Packaging Recommendations
- Never ship a McIntosh or a Marantz in an external accessorial wooden cabinet.
- Double box your unit and use at least one double wall shipping box.
- Create an impact damping protective zone of approx. 4 inches total thickness
on all sides of your unit.
- Do not leave gaps in your packaging as to avoid movement space during transit.
- If you use bubble wrap use bubble wrap with big bubbles (bubble diameter approx. 1 inch) and create 3-4 layers of protective bubble wrap layer zone all around your unit.
- Use Fragile, Top and Up-Arrow stickers to mark your package appropriately.
- Avoid non-functional over-packaging as this will increase shipping cost unnecessarily.
- Please pack responsibly and make sure that we can reuse your protective packaging easily when we ship your unit back to you.
-If Cherish44 determines that your packaging will most likely not allow a safe return shipping, we will improve existing packaging or we will employ entirely new packaging. As a result of such avoidable packaging activities, you will incur additional packaging material and packaging time charges.
- If your carrier is going to pack for you, have the packaging done right before your eyes.
Choosing a Carrier
Accidents may happen with any carrier. Therefore choosing a responsible carrier with courteous, meaningful, and results-producing customer service is as important as good packaging.
Another important criterion in choosing a carrier is to choose a carrier, which operates a real time website tracking system capable of capturing and reflecting all activities of the carrier accurately and instantaneously.
Warranty
All Cherish44 serviced units have a 60-day carry in parts and labor warranty. This warranty does not cover damage due to incorrect use of the unit. This warranty does not cover tubes installed into a unit.
Service Reports
We offer two options.
1. Standard short form report/invoice combination – free of charge
2. Detailed report/invoice combination – subject to a fee
Payment
Unless special written arrangements are made, payment is due within 14 calendar days of payment acknowledgement by e-mail. By the end of this time-frame, unpaid items will be strictly discarded without making any provisions whatsoever to previous owners.
In a similar fashion work-progress-wise discontinued items due to lack of communication from customer are retained for 14 calendar days. By the end of this time-frame, work-progress-wise discontinued items will be strictly discarded without making any provisions whatsoever to previous owners.

Buy / Trade In
Yes, we do accept trade ins and we buy vintage audio units both with the exception of speakers. Units you would like to sell or trade in do not need to be in good working order, however they do need to be all original, must have good cosmetics, and they need to be resalable.
